How to get to your USCIS biometrics appointment and / or interview

(Remember to wear your facial covering when using public transportation and
give yourself time to get there)

*** Be Aware! ***

05/04/2022: In an effort to reduce the backlog of N-400s, USCIS San Francisco is expanding its interviewing schedule and locations.

*** Starting May 21, 2022, you may have your N-400 interview scheduled to take place on a Saturday at the San Francisco USCIS Field Office (630 Sansome St.)

*** During the week, you may have your N-400 interview scheduled to take place at the San Francisco Application Service Center located at 250 Broadway





By Car



To get to your biometrics' appointment (fingerprints):


- 1. Head south on 101


- 2. Exit 101 at Steele Lane Guerneville Road (Exit 491)


- 3. At the intersection, take a right on Guerneville Road.


- 4. Take a right at 1401.

The building will be on your right.


If you cross the railroad tracks you have passed the application service center. Turn around.

By Car



To get to your interview:


You can drive to the USCIS San Francisco office.

- 1. Head south on 101


- 2. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Several payment options are available to you:
A. you to use a Fastrack account ($7.70)
or
B. you want a license plate account ($8.40),
or
C. without all that you will billed by mail ($8.70)

- 3. Stay on Van Ness which is 101.


- 4. Turn right on Jackson.


- 5. Turn left on Gough.


- 6. Turn left on Clay to cross Van Ness going East.


- 7. Go East on Clay all the way to Sansome.


- 8, just after Sansome, going East, you will cross Battery, on the driver's side you will find the Golden Gateway garage. For more information, click here.

Beware: Driving to San Francisco can take up to 3 hours or fewer than 1 hour an 30 minutes depending on traffic. Then you have to find parking that can take a while.The total traveling time is about 4 hours.The total cost, minus the price of gas, is $8:35 if you do not have a Fastrack plus the cost of parking in San Francisco.

By car and ferry



To get to your interview:


You can drive to Larkspur's Golden Gate Ferry terminal.

- 1. Head south on 101


- 2. Exit 101 at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. (Exit 450 B)


- 3. Drive under the overpasses and head east for less than a mile. The Ferry Terminal's parking lot will be on you right.


- 4. Park you car and you will need to pay $2 to park there. The way to do that is create an account with Parkmobile. Or you can visit the Golden Gate Ferry's Daily Parking webpage.


- 5. Also, you should get a Clipper Card to quickly go through the gate and not have to buy tickets at the gate.

OK, so you sailed smoothly to the historical

San Francisco Ferry Building. Now, you need to walk about a 1/2 mile or less to the USCIS building located on the north east corner of Sansome and Washington. Sansome goes North South and Washington goes East West.


Beware Driving to Larkspur may take more than 2 hours or fewer than 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Ferry ride takes between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the ferry. Finding parking at the Larkspur Ferry terminal is not, usually too difficult. Walking from the San Francisco Ferry Building to the USCIS building takes about 10 to 20 minutes

-The total traveling time is about 4 hours.

-The total cost, minus the price of gas, is: $28 without a Clipper Card, $18.50 with a Clipper Card

$2 for parking at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal

$26 (round trip, Larkspur-San Francisco and back per adult) at the terminal

$16.50 (round trip per adult) with a Clipper Card




By car, train and ferry



To get to your interview:


You can drive to SMART.


- 1. Head south on 101 to the Sonoma Aiport Boulevard exit (Exit 495)


-2. Take a right at the intersection, head west


-3. Just before you cross the railroad tracks you will see on your left the parking lot for the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART).

- To access SMART's website, click here.

- To use SMART you will need to get a Clipper Card. and you will need to set up an account with Parkmobile. to pay for parking.

- You can buy (for $3) a Clipper Card at the train stop.

- Once you buy a Clipper Card, you will need to add monetary value to your card (or you can buy a preloaded card for $60 which should be more than necessary).

You cannot buy a ticket on the train.

- You will need to purchase one Clipper Card per person traveling with you. In other words one Clipper Card cannot be used by two people at the same time and on the same trip.

- Beware! A Clipper Card is not the same as a Clipper Card Pass!

A Clipper Card is valid all over the vast bay-area public transportation system. The Clipper Card Pass is only valid for the agency that issued said pass. So, if you buy a Clipper Card, you can use that same card to use SMART and the Golden Gate Ferry or the buses in San Francisco. If you buy a Clipper Card Pass for SMART then you can only use that pass on SMART. Also, the Clipper Card Pass is only valid for 30 days and costs $200.

- You can also get a SMART eTicket for you IOS phone or your Android phone through the Apple App Store or the Google App Store. To find out more about SMART eTicket, click here.

- HEADS UP! Once you have your Clipper Card and you have given it monetary value. Before you get on the SMART train, you MUST "Tag On"! This will allow you to travel on the train. When you have reached your destination, you MUST "Tag Off"! In this case, you must "Tag On" at the Sonoma Airport stop and then "Tag Off" at the Larkspur stop. The ride should take about 79 minutes (1 hour and 19 minutes)


OK, so you made it to SMART's Larkspur train stop. You will need to walk to the Golden Gate's Larkspur Ferry Terminal (about 1/2 mile).

Once at the ferry terminal, use your Clipper Card and "Tag On" at the gate to pay for your cruise to the San Francisco ferry building. If you, by accident purchased a Clipper Card Pass you will need to buy a round trip ticket at the terminal's vending machines.

You need to walk west towards San Francisco's USCIS building which is located on the North East corner of Sansome and Washington streets. Sansome goes North South and Washington goes East West. It's about 1/2 mile or less.


Beware: Driving to the Sonoma Airport Exit may take 1 hour. Taking the train to Larkspur takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, walking from the Larkspur train stop to the Larkspur Ferry terminal may take between 1) and 20 minutes. The ride to the San Francisco Ferry Building is between 30 and 45 minutes and then

walking from the Ferry building to the USCIS is about 10 minutes.

- The total traveling time is about 4 hours.

- The total cost is: $41.50

$2 for parking at 1130 Airport Boulevard

$23.00: round trip on SMART from Sonoma Airport Boulevard to Larkspur (5 zones)

$16:50: Round trip on the ferry per adult
